Georgia AAZK is collaborating with the Turtle Survival Alliance to help raise awareness for one of the most endangered and trafficked groups of animals on the planet. Come raise a glass in support of our cause!

It has been a little quiet around here, but not at our chapter meetings! We have plenty planned for 2026 and we are excited to start dropping some event details this week.

First though, it's time to get to know your 2026 Georgia AAZK officers!

We're so proud of the work Zoo Atlanta has contributed to this conservation story, and the consistent decades of support both Zoo Atlanta and Georgia AAZK (with the help of our followers!) have provided Associação Mico Leão Dourado so they can maintain progress toward saving this amazing species and its habitat! Congratulations to Zoo Atlanta's Bird Team! Animal care professionals making a tangible difference in conservation 💪

The Bird Team is excited to announce a successful white-headed buffalo weaver chick! White-headed buffalo weavers are declining in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and the Species Survival Plan (SSP) Coordinator has requested chicks be hand reared to increase the population. Two years ago, Zoo Atlanta's Bird Team started hand raising chicks. One of those individuals, Dyson, is currently paired with a female, Didi, in the Living Treehouse on an SSP breeding recommendation. After several unsuccessful attempts, we're happy to report that they've successfully hatched and fledged their first chick all on their own!
