3 years ago I planned to release an album called “Do” (pronounced “dough”), Which means “the way; place of enlightenment,” and comes from the Korean martial art Taekwondo.

I got caught up in the plight of perfectionism and held off on releasing it. Then it hit me, this “way” requires movement, requires motion—requires action. The place of “enlightenment” is only found in seeking—an action.

I realized the hypocrisy in the project title and my stagnancy. These songs don’t need to be polished. They need to be authentic, real, they need to be me. And what better way to demarcate my checkpoints in life than releasing the real deal at the time it’s really real.

Do you get what I’m saying? I can’t keep waiting for the right moment because (cue 7 Mindsets) The Time is Now! Holding back my story is holding back a chance for someone else to learn and grow from it. So here I am releasing one song at a time because the album doesn’t need to be complete to share moments from it.

This project is the culmination of about 6 years of growing (including the latent 3), and I present to you track one: Better 2 Best. It signifies stretching and giving more than you think you can when you’ve hit your limit to truly max out and build your capacity. I hope you enjoy and stay tuned for the rest of the songs as this year comes to a close.
