Keep Cherokee Beautiful
The efforts of the Adopt-a-Mile program directly benefit the community through litter prevention, greater civic involvement and area beautification.
Keep Cherokee Beautiful and its new Adopt-A-Mile program hope to encourage businesses and residents to take pride in their local community by keeping the roadsides free of trash and debris.

Did you know? Much of the litter on our roadways results from uncovered loads. Cherokee County passed an ordinance in 2021 requiring all commercial trash trucks and junk haulers to secure their loads before driving on county roadways.
Keep Cherokee Beautiful receives 30% of the fines collected, which we use to cover supplies for our Adopt-A-Mile program.
See the link in the comments to read more about the passage of this amendment.
Secure Your Load Day News π°
π The good: Litter from unsecured loads along US roadways has dropped by more than half since 2020 - from an estimated 1 billion pieces to 454 million.
π The bad: That's still more than 450 million pieces of litter on our roads, plus another 200 million pieces along waterways and coastlines.
When debris falls from trucks, trailers, and vehicles, it doesn't just create litter - it can create safety hazards and impact our communities, waterways, and wildlife.
Do your part by properly securing and covering your load before hitting the road. π
