As temperatures drop, tire pressure can drop, too—even if your RV hasn’t moved. Check your tires cold, before driving, and inflate to the pressure specified for your RV and tires. While you’re there, look for cracks, uneven wear, and signs of aging.

A little driveway attention beats an unwanted roadside stop.

💎 LOCAL GEM: The Ace of Clubs House

How about a house shaped like a playing card? ♣️

✨ Why it's a gem: You won't find many houses with a story—or a floor plan—quite like this one!
👀 What you'll find: An unusual historic home with distinctive architecture and more than a century of Texarkana history.

Built in 1885, the Ace of Clubs House gets its name from its unique design. Viewed from above, three octagonal wings and a rectangular wing give the house the shape of an ace of clubs playing card.

And there's a great story behind it.

According to local legend, lumberman and businessman James H. Draughon won $10,000 in a poker game with the ace of clubs and used his winnings to build the house. Whether every bit of the story happened exactly that way is part of the fun—but the unusual house is very real!

Inside, the home offers a glimpse into the lives of several prominent Texarkana families, with period furnishings and architectural details from another era.

It's quirky, historic, and definitely not something you see every day—which makes it exactly the kind of place we love finding for our Local Gems.

This two-day fundraiser kicks off Sunday, September 20, at Northridge Country Club with an outdoor concert featuring Jackson Wendell, a Lufkin native who recently signed with Sony Music Nashville. I’ve Heard Worse and Jerry DeLeon & Southbound will also take the stage.
Concert tickets are on sale now:
• $25 College Student Admission with valid ID
• $50 General Admission
• $100 VIP Admission, including dinner and two drink tickets
The fun continues Monday, September 21, with the Tacos & Tunes Golf Tournament. Morning and afternoon flights are available, but space is limited.
Proceeds from the weekend support CASA & TCAC and the important services they provide to children and families impacted by abuse and neglect throughout the Greater Texarkana area.
