Top 5 things I do to make sure I get the shot
Lock exposure first
Shutter ISO and aperture locked before anything else so nothing shifts mid take
Nail focus dont shoot wide open unless you have to
Face and eye detect helps but I always confirm critical focus Avoid wide open unless needed for light or separation
Build lighting to be stable
Key fill and hair light set so the scene stays consistent even if talent moves slightly
Watch framing constantly
Headroom eyeline and background distractions get fixed in real time not in post
Run a quick checklist before record
Audio white balance battery media and focus all locked before rolling
