First visit to Atlanta Cafe Diner and I had to start with the Reuben Sandwich — and wow, it did not disappoint. Each ingredient stood on its own! Definitely very good, and the food already speaks for itself.
You can tell it’s still the first full day of opening, so a few small things are expected as they settle in. The staff was super nice, and the overall atmosphere felt welcoming.
The space is still almost completely unchanged from the old Branding Iron, which creates a little bit of an identity crossover right now. One item that felt almost exactly the same was the fries, which definitely brought back that familiar Branding Iron feel.
One thing to note: the dinner menu isn’t on the current main menu and is actually its own separate menu. I’m especially interested in trying those dinner options that were just posted.
The main menu itself has a huge variety of breakfast, lunch, which I really like. It’s a little scattered and could use some refinement over time, but I love having so many options in one place. One interesting choice was that there were no shareable plates or appetizer options, which stood out to me.
I’m also really hoping they kept the pork chop from the Branding Iron, because that was one of the standout dishes from that location.
Overall, this already feels like a refreshing change from the typical burger chains in town, and I’ll definitely be back a few more times before dropping a full review.
If you’ve checked out the Atlanta Cafe Diner , go tell me what you think in the comments.
Full review coming soon once I have visited a few more times to get a true sense of the place and menu.

🥓✨ FIRST WATCH TEXARKANA — VIP FIRST BITE REVIEW ✨🥓
Yesterday Sarah and I were invited to the VIP Friends & Family event at First Watch — and wow… Texarkana finally has a great, cost-effective brunch & lunch option.
They do offer a full lunch menu as well, but we mainly focused on the brunch side during our visit — and it definitely delivered. The menu ranges from lighter, healthier choices to classic breakfast favorites, and overall everything we tried was very good.
⭐ Standouts:
• Million Dollar Potatoes — roasted potatoes with a creamy sauce, chives, and Million Dollar Bacon on top… easily the best thing we tried. I’d go back just for this.
• Million Dollar Bacon — sweet, savory, and addictive.
• Eggs Benedict — rich hollandaise with great flavor and balance (tomato comes on top instead of on the side).
👍 Also good:
• Avocado toast — great flavor (I just prefer sliced avocado texture)
• Biscuits & gravy — very solid and close to local favorites
👎 Skip:
• Chicken apple sausage patty — odd texture with a slightly artificial sweetness
💯 Service: Outstanding. Huge shoutout to our server Zoey — she was fantastic.
✅ Overall: Great experience, strong value, and a welcome new addition to the Texarkana food scene. We’ll definitely be back.
📍 First Watch opens for brunch & lunch starting Monday and will be open daily from 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM!

OK, some of you may have caught sneak peeks from our visits to The Primary Commons — but I wanted to go multiple times before giving a real review. Three visits in: opening weekend, Valentine’s weekend, and this past Friday… and I’ve got thoughts.
First off — the staff. Every single visit, they were amazing. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience. That alone sets the tone.
What makes this place special is the uniqueness and upscale feel it brings to the area. It’s clear they’re aiming higher, and in most cases, they absolutely deliver. We made it a point to order across the full price range of the menu to see if the excellence held up from top to bottom.
Let’s start with the highlights: the steaks are hands down the best in town. No debate. And the fries? Easily the best I’ve ever had — crispy, perfectly seasoned, and addictive. The pasta is also a standout — rich, flavorful, and beautifully balanced. A must-order.
On our first two visits, which focused more on the mid-to-higher tier dishes, we were blown away. There was only one outlier: the pizza (which has since been removed from the menu — honestly, the right move). It just didn’t match the level of everything else.
Our most recent visit focused more on the lower-priced items. The Reuben was the only real letdown. Still good — but compared to everything else, it didn’t shine. The smoked brisket overpowered the sandwich, and the rye didn’t quite balance it out. The fries served with it also lacked the crisp perfection you get when ordering fries as their own side. It may have just been an off night, but it stood out.
Drinks? Excellent across the board. Whether you’re going for a full dinner or just drinks and fries, you won’t be disappointed.
One of my favorite moments was meeting the chef on our first visit. You can immediately feel her passion and commitment to true farm-to-table dining. That passion shows in the food and the experience.
Overall verdict: The Primary Commons is absolutely worth visiting. Perfect for an upscale date night, drinks with friends, or just treating yourself to one of the best steaks in town.
Highly recommend. This place is doing something special.
