During National Police Week, the Atkinson Police Department honors the brave men and women across this country who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. We remember the fallen heroes who gave their lives protecting others and keep their families, friends, and fellow officers in our thoughts. The recent tragic loss of a Massachusetts State Police Trooper while responding to a wrong-way driver is a heartbreaking reminder of the dangers law enforcement officers face every day. We stand together in honoring their service, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to their communities.

Officer Corbett responded to assist one of Atkinson’s favorite local celebrities who appeared to be having a rough time in the rain today. Luckily, our tiny yellow friend is now safe, dry, and emotionally recovering from the weather.
While we’re out checking on “community members” big and small, this is also a good reminder for everyone to stay safe on the roads during rainy weather:
- Slow down
- Turn your headlights on
- Put the phone away
- Watch for standing water and slippery roads
- Keep an eye out for pedestrians, cyclists, and
roadside hazards
A little extra caution goes a long way when the roads are wet.
Stay safe, Atkinson — and don’t worry… the Minion has been placed under protective custody until conditions improve.

It’s time to recognize the voices behind the badge.
This week marks National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 12–18, 2026), and the Atkinson Police Department would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the incredible dispatchers who keep our officers and community safe every single day.
Our dispatchers here in Atkinson, New Hampshire, along with our partners at Plaistow Emergency Communications Center in Plaistow, New Hampshire, are the calm voices on the other end of the line during someone’s worst moment. They work behind the scenes coordinating officers, firefighters, and EMS—often under intense pressure—while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
They may not always be seen, but they are always heard when it matters most.
Your voice truly makes a difference.
Please join us in thanking our dedicated telecommunicators for their commitment, professionalism, and unwavering support of our officers and community.
