This camp is a free program offered by Ohio University to help introduce middle-school aged girls to basic computer programming.

The official page for Ohio University's 2017 Summer Coding Camp. The Ohio University Summer Coding Camp is a free program offered by Ohio University to help introduce middle-school aged girls to basic computer programming with the hope of helping them develop skills that can help open pathways for them in this rapidly growing career field. The camp has been designed by Ohio University professors and staff who will work with advanced Ohio University students to facilitate the camp.

Hey campers! Because of the need for personal distancing we will not offer an on-campus option for students this summer. We are currently exploring ways in which we can provide virtual opportunities for students. Stay tuned!

After a full day of working on projects yesterday, the campers ended by watching Hidden Figures. Today’s showcase will take place at 2:30 in Schoonover 145. All are invited to attend!

Most of today was spent at the computer working on projects. Our afternoon field trip was to the GRID Lab to learn about applications of coding in game development and augmented/virtual reality production.

First day of camp nearly in the books! After a morning of discussion and planning in the classrooms, campers took a field trip. Dr. Wu Lei and her research team worked with the campers to understand applications of coding in scientific research on nanotechnology. While with Dr. Lei, campers were able to make slide samples and look at those samples under microscopes.
