This marker shows an original opening date of 1918, I also found some history showing the date as 1912.

It was a Greek restaurant with a lot of history and ownership changes and it moved around the corner.

It operated for many years.

The Fountain

The fountain sits in the middle of the square of Washington GA where the courthouse once stood.

It is a beautiful fountain to enjoy while spending time exploring the square.

I had never been to downtown Eatonton, Georgia, even though I had lived in Milledgeville, GA for 24 years.

It is such a cute, little town with so much to offer. There is a little art gallery on the square.

The town is filled with beautiful, historic houses.

The Fitzpatrick Hotel was built in the Queen Anne style in 1898 on the square in Washington Ga by two brothers.

It was one of the few places with electricity, running water, and an elevator.

A group of MIT scientists stayed there to observe the solar eclipse of May 28, 1900.

The hotel was closed in 1952.

It reopened in 2004 after being closed for 50 years.

The First Baptist Church building in Elberton, GA is located at the corner of Heard and Thomas Street.

This is the second church building for this congregation. This one was constructed in 1897-1898.

The building was expanded many times over the next 100 plus years.

The stained glass is beautiful.

This card shows the Elberton Star Newspaper building on the square in Elberton, GA.

This newspaper was published from 1891 until 1981.

At which time, it merged with the Elberton Beacon to form a new paper called the Elberton Star, the Elberton Beacon.

The Samuel Elbert Hotel has quite a history. It was built in the non-classical Tudor style.

It was named for General Samuel Elbert, a hero of the American Revolutionary War.

It was first opened ibn August 1925.

Through the years, it has been sold many times and converted to office space in the 1960's and then retail space.
After the city acquired the building in 2012, it was turned back into a hotel.

This photo note card shows the Elbert Courthouse in Elberton, GA.

It is located on the town square. It's an example of the popular Romanesque Revival style of architecture. It was built in 1893-1894 and is still in use today.

If you are familiar with Elberton GA, you won't be surprised that there is both brick and granite in the construction.
