Next Act

Thank you to everyone who joined us to close out our season of dreams! Not to be too on the nose, but it really was a dream to see everyone come out and support Next Act this year!

🌟How long have you been involved with theatre?
“In High School, I decided to take a musical theater class, and ever since then I was hooked. My first ever musical was Matilda, and the following season my directors and I had a conversation about me choreographing both our fall extracurricular show and curricular spring show. I choreographed “The Sound of Music”, and then in the Spring I was both the choreographer of “9 to 5” and in the ensemble. For that show, I was nominated for “Best Choreography” in the Shuler Hensley Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards. The following year, I also choreographed “Once Upon a Mattress” and “Mean Girls”, and I was in the cast of “Mean Girls” as well.”

🌟How are you involved with Next Act?
“My first show that I did with NextAct was “Grease” in the Spring of 2025. I decided to audition for the show with the goal of putting myself out there, and I was so excited that I got a call back, and even more thrilled to be cast in the show!  In Fall of 2025, NextAct announced that they were doing “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and I got the chance to choreograph it! Then, the following semester I choreographed “Into the Woods”. I’ve gotten to meet some of my best friends thanks to NextAct.”

🌟How has your experience with Next Act been? What has been your favorite experience?
“My experience within NextAct has honestly been nothing but fun. It is so cool that students who all share an extreme passion for theater can band together and create an entire production just from the love of the game. My favorite thing I did with NextAct was being a featured dancer in the cast of “Grease!”

🌟How long have you been involved with theatre?
“I’ve discovered theatre during middle school, but I didn’t get serious with it until highschool. I went to an art school and theatre was my major throughout my four years there. Aside from course work, I learned a lot about trusting myself when on stage and embracing the mixed feeling that comes with performing.”

🌟How are you involved with Next Act?
“I’ve been in Next Act’s Road to Fame Cabaret last year, which was my first taste of college theatre. I’ve never been in a cabaret before joining that one, so it was nice having a low-stakes introduction to college. I did a few shows outside of Next Act like BCM Desert Theatre “Hairspray” before joining You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown exposed me to more intimate cast size and abstract ensemble work. I also got to understudy two roles, which was completely new to me.”

🌟How has your experience with Next Act been? What has been your favorite experience?
“My experience with Next Act’s has been nothing but full of respect and care from their end. When unexpected things happen, they’re on top of it. We know good and well how hectic theatre can be, so I appreciate that. I also think Next Act truly embodies all the good that comes with theatre. It’s a space for people like me who seek friendships and fun. So far, my best experience has been You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown. I’m very fortunate to have been around an amazing cast, who I now call friends. I’m hoping to create more memories with Next Act.”

“I’m also involved in Next Act, BTE, and The Red and Black”
