Juneteenth Music & Arts Festival an event created “For the people, by the people.”
Join us from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Georgia Square Mall as we celebrate culture, community, freedom, music, art, food, and fellowship. We hope to see you there.
May 4, 2017, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement began to commemorate the Athens’ Day of Jubilee annually on May 4 - the day freedom came to thousands of enslaved people in Athens following the arrival of Union troops in 1865.

The Classic City Juneteenth Music and Arts Fest 2026 will begin with a powerful tribute to those who endured slavery and fought for freedom. Community members are encouraged to gather by 2:45 p.m., as the opening ceremony will begin promptly at 3:00 p.m.
Outside Georgia Square Mall, the celebration will open with a Libation Ceremony, honoring our ancestors and acknowledging the sacrifices of those who came before us.
The ceremony will be followed by a Bell Ringing, symbolizing the long-awaited announcement of freedom and the enduring call to justice. Live performances, vendors, and much more.. Visit our website for more information or to register www.aadmovement.org/events

Each year, the Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement (AADM) proudly supports the Athens Miss Juneteenth Pageant, hosted by Shawania Lay founder of SLay Pageants . This year the event will be held June 14th, 6pm at the Morton Theatre. Visit Morton Theatre website to grab your tickets.
The contestants and winner will also be joining us again at the 2026 Classic City Juneteenth Music & Arts Fest hosted by Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement. Let’s celebrate our youth, our culture, and our future leaders!
