University of Georgia School of Law Professor Emerita Diane Marie Amann recently gave evidence in the United Kingdom Parliament, part of the third oral hearing of the Standing Group on Atrocity Crimes. Convened with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on International Law, Justice and Accountability, the Standing Group is designed
“to create a unified, effective, and enforceable atrocity prediction, prevention and response strategy within the UK Government, aligned with existing international legal obligations. We aim to establish mechanisms for addressing atrocity crimes including the crime of aggression, genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity through legislative reform and policy change.”
Now the Regents’ Professor Emerita and Emily & Ernest Woodruff Chair in International Law Emerita at Georgia Law, Amann served for many years as a Faculty Co-Director of our Dean Rusk International Law Center. She is currently is Visiting Professor at The London School of Economics and Political Science - LSE Law School and serves on the Board of Editors of the American Journal of International Law.

Olivia is currently a legal extern with Atlas Services Belgium (Orange) in Brussels, Belgium. In this position, she assists Orange's team of lawyers with projects in M&A, corporate finance, project finance, corporate restructuring, tax planning, and treasury management. Oliva's externship is supervised by Georgia Law alumnus Johan Van den Cruijce (LL.M. '94).
Orange is one of many Global Externships Overseas (GEO) placements available to Georgia Law students seeking to gain practical knowledge and experience in an international setting, both for summer and semester-long externships.

Join University of Georgia School of Law Professor Desiree LeClercq for an online conversation about the International Court of Justice's landmark advisory opinion affirming the right to strike. It will take place on Monday, June 8 at 9am EST on Zoom and will be moderated by Duncan Pickard, Debevoise & Plimpton.
Event description: On 21 May 2026, the International Court of Justice issued a landmark advisory opinion affirming that the right to strike is protected under the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise Convention, 1948 (No. 87), despite the absence of an explicit textual reference. Interpreting the Convention in light of its object and purpose and relevant rules of international law, the Court clarified the scope of workers’ rights with significant implications for international organizations and labor governance.
Co-sponsored by the Human Rights Interest Group of the American Society of International Law, the International Organisations Interest Group of the European Society of International Law, and the United Nations Law Committee of the American Branch of the International Law Association.

Mandy Dixon, International Professional Education Manager of the University of Georgia School of Law’s Dean Rusk International Law Center, recently attended the NAFSA 2026 Annual Conference and Expo hosted in Orlando, Florida.
The NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo is the world’s largest gathering of international education professionals, dedicated to advancing global learning, student mobility, and cross-cultural exchange. Under this year’s theme, “Global by Design,” conference discussions covered topics such as admissions quality, agile leadership, student recruitment, and the growing impact of AI.
Dixon attended a number of panel discussions about international education, including one led by the International Student Resource Center (ISRC) featuring Robin Catmur-Smith, former Director of Immigration Services at the University of Georgia’s Office of Global Engagement. Catmur-Smith now serves as Director at ISRC.
