Earth Day feels right at home in Athens, Ohio.

Whether you’re walking beneath blooming trees, exploring miles of trail, or simply pausing to take in the view, Athens invites you to slow down and reconnect. Today, and every day, it shows how deeply our best experiences are rooted in the landscapes we care for.

The No. 3 steam engine runs again this Saturday at 6:00 PM!

They’re calling this ride the “Pizza and Pop Express.” That’s right, you can enjoy steamy hot pizza while riding on a steam train. 🍕

Spring blooms are full on right now as we enter what looks to be a beautiful weekend, weather wise. Take some time to enjoy the natural beauty of Athens this weekend.

Here are some of our favorite places to go get a nature fix: The Ridges Land Lab, Strouds Run State Park, the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, Bailey’s Trail System, Gifford State Forest, Waterloo Wildlife Area, and Fox Lake Wildlife Area.

The International Street Fair is this Saturday, 10:30 AM - 5:00 PM on Union Street in front of the Ohio University Class Gateway on the corner of E Union St. and S. College St.


Each spring, university student organizations, departments, and community groups come together to celebrate our global diversity on the streets of Uptown Athens.

It won’t be long! These photographs (taken today) show that some cherry blossom trees are starting to bloom. The grove of trees near Peden Stadium seem to be a little ahead of the trees nearer the Convocation Center.
