Congratulations to our 2024 Ohio University Student Research and Creative Activity Expo award winners and to all of those who participated!

Our undergraduate 1st place winners were Crewe Edens with ‘The Test’, and Ryan Hoeting, Andrew Hepburn, Charlie Dye, and Marcus Brooks with ‘Miriam’s Magical Mineshaft’. Our graduate 1st place winner was Jorge Castillo with ‘Wonder Garden - Insects of Southeast Ohio’.

Our undergraduate 2nd place winners were William Hamilton with ‘The Digital Dungeon Master’ and Jack Sherlock, Ellary Rion, Evan Whalen, and Rowan Knutsen with ‘Virtual Trolley problem’. Our graduate 2nd place winner was Edmund Darko with ‘Clean-Up Fun VR’.

On February 9th -11th the International Virtual Reality Healthcare Association (IVRHA) hosted the inaugural college student VR Healthcare Hackathon at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida! Selected universities were invited to send three students to compete against other universities prototyping VR applications for healthcare problems. Competing for Ohio University were Jorge Castillo (MFA), Edmund Darko (MFA), and William Hamilton (HTC undergraduate). Ohio University finished third in this year’s competition!

This year’s outstanding graduating undergrad 05/03/2023

Nick Tipton, Information and Telecommunication Systems graduate, is our 2023 recipient of the McClure School's academically distinguished award.

This year’s outstanding graduating undergrad Nick Tipton, an ITS major, stood out while at the McClure School, and he was recently awarded 2023’s outstanding undergrad for his accomplishments. Wanting to set himself apart from a computer science degree, and not interested in math and science, Nick chose to pursue the ITS program.

In the fall semester, the McClure School's ITS program offered a class on the use of technology in urban environments. The class placed emphasis on a discussion on the positive and negative impacts of technology in cities and communities around the globe and worked with GIS systems to imagine how future technology could benefit our region.
