Well, hi there friends! Been awhile. Haven't been out to eat in a long time. And I mean a REALLY long time. Not counting the occasional run through the drive thru, there's nothing new there. New (for us) is what this page is about, as well as the old favorites that need a revisit.
The other night, I took Mama out for dinner. She needed a night out even if it did tire her a bit. It was good for her. Good for us both.
I had heard lots of raving reviews of local favorite Clinch Mountain Bakery and Restaurant. Friday night happened to be all you can eat catfish. Yes, please! Some of the best breaded and fried catfish I've ever had outside my grandpa and my dad's backyard fish frys. Perfectly fluffy, flaked, and seasoned whole fillets that didnt really even need tartar sauce!
Live music added to the laid back country feel of the place. The staff is friendly and welcoming and always around when you need something. Holly was our main waitress and she is such a sweet person! Took good care of us despite how busy it was with a youth group of 30 there. Chatted a bit with the owner, Tonya. She's got an amazing place up there on the mountain. You'll have to try the massive burgers and dont forget to save room for dessert! The peach cobbler is one of a kind delicious!
Thanks for a great night out &Restaurant, it was wonderful!

This past weekend was part fun and part miserable. I had a sinus infection but pushed through to enjoy the kyuki-do extravaganza in Wisconsin with the daughter and the brother. The Dells has tons of tasty food options in almost any cuisine you might be craving. Saturday night we went to Monks Bar and Grill. The martial artists worked up an appetite after an entire afternoon of events and seminars so hearty dinners were needed. These burgers were fantastic! Homemade fries and chips were served alongside them. I had a bleu cheese and bacon burger, the daughter had a gouda burger. They were perfect comfort food on a cold and snowy evening! If you're ever in the Waterpark capital of the world, check out Monks, youll be glad you did!

*Brisket Philly and Southern Belle Burger. Not pictured is the pimento cheese appetizer.
Food was delicious, atmosphere and staff were great. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood off the beaten path near Summerville SC.

It's been awhile since we posted. Life takes over so often and we get caught up in it. That and Im a lazy social media person. I know, I know, blasphemy in our society.
Anyway, my social media shortcomings aside. We are back in Athens, GA this week visiting family, so we stopped by a local favorite for lunch. Billy Meadows Station in Colbert, GA, just outside Athens is a staple in almost every Madison Countian's childhood. We grew up going to what we all refer to as "The Hot Dog Stand" after school, on Saturdays, and in the summer. Mr. Bill always greeted you like an old friend when you came in. He'd ask about how your Mama, Daddy, and your grandpa were doing, especially if they hadn't stopped in for a while. He usually knew what you were going to order when you were a regular and he'd chat with you and other neighbors coming in for a bite. Thats what we all are...neighbors and friends around here. Mr. Bill's gone now but his legacy still carries on with Ms. Jean, the fabulous lady he left the stand to. She learned from the best about making and serving the best hot dogs, chicken salad sandwiches, and ham and cheese sandwiches in Northeast Georgia. That chicken salad is homemade, still using the same recipe from back in 1945, but dont ask for it...it's a Hot Dog Stand secret and some of the best you'll ever have. As good as it is, it doesnt overshadow the hot dogs. There's good reason why for 80 years they've been call "The Best Dogs in Town". Next time you find yourself in Athens, GA, make sure you detour about 20 minutes north east and head to the little town of Colbert. Not far before the red light on Hwy 72 you'll find the Hot Dog Stand on the right. Keep your eyes peeled or you'll miss it, and you definitely don't want to do that. Your taste buds and belly will thank you. It's a stop off the beaten path that you won't forget.

Have yall seen that Arby's is serving hamburgers now? They look tasty, but those commercials are always made to look worlds better than the actual food does. Anybody try one yet? Wondering about giving it a taste test....

The family and I went to Sevierville, TN over the weekend for my youngest daughter’s last volleyball tournament of the season. While there we ate at the Old Mill Restaurant In Piegon Forge. The food was delicious! I had the Reuben and my mom had the open face turkey sandwich. The others had non sandwich meals but they were equally yummy.

Good Sunday evening everyone! I hope you're all enjoying a relaxing weekend, and if you've been working, I hope you've found some down time to get some rest.
Today's Between the Bread post is about a hidden gem in the little town of Winterville, GA. Little City Diner is a fabulous place to stop in for lunch. My favorite is their ham md cheese sandwich. It has your typical ham and cheese flavors, but with a twist. Apple butter kicks the taste up to a whole new level! Their homemade seasoned fries round out this yummy lunch nicely! If you're ever in the area, stop in for lunch, you won't be disappointed!

Good morning! Long time no post, I know. Life has been crazy and stressful for several months and we had to put the page on the back burner for a bit. It's time, though, to get back to sharing great food finds! Today, I want to share a snippet of yesterday's lunch here in Dandridge, TN. We had just gotten into town and wanted something simple like sandwiches. Found the Dandridge Brewing Company. The staff is wonderful and friendly. The sandwiches have interesting names like The Ooh La La and the Cryin' Arnold, which is what we had. They did not disappoint! Different flavors combine for a tasty sandwich at a great little spot!

Post 2-2: While driving home from our weekend getaway, my hubby and I stopped another local spot. This time in Pawleys Island. I had the Pawleys Island Sandwich. Fried green tomato, ham, bacon and pimento cheese. Served with potato salad & broccoli salad. All were delicious! My only complaint is I would have liked more pimento cheese and ham on the sandwich. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Post 1 of 2: Hubby and I took a weekend trip up the Carolina coast from where we live in Summerville SC. We ended up in Ocean Isle, NC.
For dinner we chose a local favorite, Sharkey’s. I got the Shrimp burger which was delicious! The sauce and the brioche bun made the sandwich. Hubby got the piggy Mac which was equally delicious. Definitely a much go if you are in the area.
