Athens ReThink Plastics

We had the opportunity to present to 8th grade sciences classes this past week. Our youth educator was joined by members of the group she advises, Friends of Athens ReThink Plastics. May is the month our youth educator is invited into classrooms to provide lessons on both the problems with plastic ( production, exposure, disposal) as well as solutions. This 3rd grade classroom time was extra special with her grandson in front row! Please read Jane Goodall’s message! It’s good for all of us to think about.

Tech Savvy event at OU 😊👍🏼

We had a great time tabling at a Kids on Campus event that involved STEM education.

ARP and our fabulous volunteers are cutting, sewing and tagging our feed and seed bags. They will be repurposed as shopping bags and given to the public at our tabling events.

At the OU Earth Day Sustainability Event today, we had many people stopping by to take the plastic quiz and then staying to learn more about plastics.

Plastic Free Day at both elementary schools in Athens City Schools! Silverware =less single use plastics!

Both Athens City School elementary schools had a plastic free lunch day today! Silverware collected in the bucket reminds students that throw away single use plastic cutlery is wasteful.

Seen from a window in Amsterdam- their version of Adopt a Highway- citizens adopt a street to clean up. No single use plastic bags at the stores so less trash from the get go.
