also has a small release focused on vases, salad bowls and planters right in time for Mother’s Day. She stayed at work last night until 1 am to get the glaze kiln loaded for a Saturday release. Come see us for Artwalk or on Sunday on your way to market.

“Safe space” is a bigger concept than two words can indicate. It’s a collaborative process that requires input from the community, tough boundaries and safe guarding against violence and abuse. As sexual assault survivors we know personally and deeply the significance of these two words more than most. Cambium has always been and will always be a safe space. A space where LGBTQIA+ individuals and our allies come together in support, kindness and community to enjoy good coffee, great conversation and incredible art. It also a space where we believe survivors and we believe victims. It is a space where we are unafraid to ask someone to leave who commits heinous crimes and continues to perpetuate assault against community members. Safety can be complex. It can be different for many and creating a true safe space requires not only listening to individuals but taking action appropriately. We are heartbroken to hear the experiences of the previous and current staff of Xanadu. We are distraught to know that real life experiences were disregarded and not believed repeatedly and for a significant period of time. Clearly this is an ongoing problem involving many members of the community.

In this current period of time in history lgbtqia+ people are already stigmatized and terrorized we cannot allow one greedy person in a vibrant community to take away our safety. We have to bind together to continue to make new safe spaces and find new ways to meet each other in community. We at Cambium invite you in. Into the conversation, into the community and into safety.

One of our most accessible pledges is this beautiful community cup by Audrey Long. For just a $40 you can have one of these beautiful hand thrown cups. These cups are glazed in a community glaze that can never be recreated as it’s the remnants of all the left over glazes of students who came before.

We have A Body Apart by Amie Pascal opening this weekend. Its an incredible show. The opening is from 5 pm - 8 pm and the artist will be present.

We are excited to welcome Astoria, Or based artist Amie Pascal for the solo show A Body Apart. “A Body Apart” delves into betrayals of the body, in all its bountiful guts and beautiful gore through abstract and surreal compositions referencing old medical anatomy in order to expose what it feels like going through this world in a sick, broken body and q***r being.

Reception will be Saturday 5pm-8pm as part of Astoria Artwalk
