In a 2015 study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers investigated the effects of a 90-minute walk in nature versus an urban setting on participants' self-reported levels of rumination. The study found that individuals who walked in a natural environment, such as a park with trees and vegetation, reported a significant decrease in rumination compared to those who walked in an urban environment.
