Nature is so cool

Fairy Inkcap (Coprinellus disseminatus): This fungi is also known as "trooping crumble cap" and is a species of agaric fungus in the family Psathyrellaceae. Common in Britain and Ireland and throughout Europe and North America, the Fairy Inkcap is truly a cosmopolitan mushroom, being found also in most parts of Asia, in South America and Australia.

They are tiny and delicate with thin white stems. Caps turn grayish as they age. These mushrooms can be found growing in huge clusters.

This mushroom is one of the species of fungi that derives its nutrients from decaying wood, and the mushrooms are usually found on or near the base of dead tree stumps or on decaying logs or tree roots.

Ignition Resistant Garden

Even near (3-5’) buildings, you don’t need to have completely bare ground. This space can be functional (walkways, patios, non-wood decks, etc.) and pretty too. Think about using a combo of rocks, boulders, and low height, high water content plants, widely spaced in your ‘rock garden’.

Some plant suggestions:

 Ajuga
 Basket-of-gold
 Creeping phlox
 Creeping thyme
 Giant flowered soapwort
 Mat penstemon
 Hardy plumbago
 Hens & chicks
 Lamb’s ear
 Thyme
 Iceplant
 Poppy mallow
 Pussytoes
 Rock soapwort
 Rockcress
 Snow-in-summer
 Veronicas
 Sedum

Thanks to Irene Shonle, CSU Extension El Paso County for the suggestions!
