For middle schoolers who want to take their artificial intelligence ( ) skills to the next level, we have an all new this summer! Campers will explore the exciting world of AI and machine learning, discovering how AI powers real-world technologies—from voice assistants to self-driving cars—and learning about the positive and negative tradeoffs of AI.
Through hands-on projects, campers will use Machine Learning for Kids, Google Teachable Machine, micro:bit CreateAI, and the Cardboard Robots Teachable micro:bit App to build and train their own machine learning models. Campers learn prompt engineering; how to build good prompts and use them to create AI Art. To balance the creative activities, campers discuss the social and ethical impacts of AI and complete three full AI projects from concept to demo. A highlight of the week is constructing a micro:bit project and bringing it to life with AI-powered gesture recognition.

In the world of Girl Scouts, the Gold Award is the ultimate achievement, and one only about 3,000 girls–about 6% of Girl Scouts–will receive each year. Kaelyn Hendricks, a junior at Arlington Tech, is one of them. She reached out to Boolean Girl with an idea for a Gold Award project, and we knew it would be something special.

To be successful in AI and other future-looking technologies, you need fundamental skills. Just like you can't become a lawyer or doctor if you can't read, you can't be an AI creator without knowing how to code. To build a future where AI is safe and accessible for everyone, we need more AI creators.
We offer four camps that will help children learn these fundamentals while also introducing them to the world of AI, developing skills in AI creation, and understanding its social and ethical impacts. Our newest advanced AI camp, Creating & Using AI, is ideal for students who have taken an intro Python class either with Boolean Girl or in school and are eager to go further by writing Python code to create AI applications.
