DVT can happen in as many as 54% of patients in the hospital after a brain injury. Being in bed and not being able to move around can cause blood to pool in the legs and feet. A brain injury support group is a place where people with brain injuries and/or caregivers can meet and support each other, by sharing stories and information. TBI and DoC can be very isolating, as you focus on your family member. So support groups can be a lifeline for many people.
