Terrific read. Highly recommended to the literate fly fishers I know.

REMINDER about Casting Church for Sunday, July 12, ON THE WATER

Come join TPFR and the Chesapeake Women Anglers for a Casting Church ON THE WATER followed by a fun day of fishing.

Meet at Devilbiss Bridge on the Monocacy (N of Frederick, MD) from 9 a.m. on Sunday, July 12.

Street address for the meet-up is

8276 Devilbiss Bridge Road
Walkersville, MD 21793

While this event is open to all levels, it is a really good opportunity for beginners. The Monocacy River is wide open at this point and the wading is fairly easy, but with some places with cobblestone, so it's a good idea to bring your wading staff.

After our casting tune-up, we will be targeting Bluegill and Bass, so bring flies for those species. The suggested rod weight is 4, 5, or 6 to cast the flies sized for your target species. And don't forget your Maryland Department of Natural Resources Fisheries freshwater fishing license

Please reach out with any questions!

Join TPFR this Sunday for casting church!

Drop in anytime between 8:30 and 11 a.m. at the far end of the lower parking lot at Fletchers Cove.

Reach out if you need to borrow a rod or have a specific kind (i.e., fiberglass 6 wt, fast action 8 wt with a sinking line) that you’d like to try and we’ll see what we can do.

No need to bring waders; we’ll be field casting.
