A program of the FS Children's Shelter. The program will take place in a 24-unit apartment complex acquired by the Children's Emergency Shelter.
Creating a safe and stable environment where at-risk youth, who are aging out of foster care or have become homeless, learn the fundamentals of adulthood to empower them to overcome the cycle of dysfunction. The Fort Smith Children’s Emergency Shelter Independent Living Program, provides a safe and stable housing option along with life-skills training for youth in foster care at age 18 and beyond.

He officially earned his driver's license!
This is a huge milestone and an important step toward independence. Now... he's working toward his next goal: saving up for his first vehicle. 🚗

Every 2 minutes, a young person enters foster care.
Every year, 20,000 youth age out of the foster care system.
For many, turning 18 doesn’t mean stability. It means stepping into adulthood without the support most of us rely on.
That’s why extended foster care matters.
At GetREAL, we walk alongside young adults as they build life beyond foster care through safe housing, life coaching, transportation, education support, life skills, and community.
Because no one should have to figure it all out alone. 💙
