In the series "Meet the Child Development Team", this week, we want you to meet the afternoon Head Teacher of HSU Child Development Lab, Pollyanna (Polly) Ramos.
Polly grew up in Bakersfield and moved to Humboldt County to escape the heat and smog and attend college. She worked in area preschools as she attended College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University.
As a student, she was the Assistant Teacher at the Child Development Lab for 2 years. After graduating with a Child Development degree in 2003, she worked at HSU’s Children’s Center for 15 years. She then returned to the Child Development Lab as a Head Teacher in 2018.
In her free time, Polly likes to be engaged in community events and enjoy our beautiful natural surroundings. She is committed to social justice and equity. On the weekends you might run into her at the farmer’s market, local festivals, or hiking a trail in the community forest with her daughter. Polly also enjoys live music, reading, journaling, and creating art.
