I want to provide a little history on your mayor. I have been a resident of Aransas Pass for 30+ years and my community has always been close to my heart, which is why I have invested in businesses and properties throughout. However the softest spot of my heart has always been about giving back, especially to the youth of our community. But, that's enough about me personally, since I am not here to brag about myself or what I have done prior to my time on the council.

As my love for this community grew, I decided it was important to get out of my private comfort zone and do even more by diving deep through pubilc service by running for city council. By God's grace and your support, I have had an opportunity to see the progression of our community through city wide improvements and development by working closely with some of my colleagues on the city council and the diligent and hard working city staff and their leadership.

This election is an important time for Aransas Pass. While some running for appointment do so through division, evilness, and self-serving motivations, my laser focus remains on what more me and my colleagues and city staff can do for the betterment of all in Aransas Pass. And, while these individuals will speak from an uninformed position about goals they would like to accomplish, some goals are already achieved and others are in the works, such as:

1. $1.3M New Water Tower
2. $700k Repaired Euclid Pump and Berm
3. $10M in draining repairs throughout the City, but mostly on the Northside [remember north McCampbell?]
4. $1.2M for water/sewer additions to the Sherwood Forest area
5. $2M for water/sewer additions to parts of town without these services - work is underway
6. $2M+ for Conn Brown Harbor bulkhead repairs
7. $5M for new roads, parking lot, bike/walking trail, and street lights for Conn Brown Harbor, as well as rebuilding the destroyed fishing pier.
8. New Harbor Master Building
9. Provided safety improvements to the transient docks, and the fish cleaning station and adjoining finger pier
10. Installation of new public safety dock for more efficient on-water response for public safety [Total of 205 events on the water with 14 of them being on-water emergency events this last year]
11. Repaired boat ramps at Conn Brown Harbor
12. Obtained new SCADA System for utilities
13. Signficant improvements to the wastewater treatment plant (like the addition of backup diesel pumps at the lift stations.)
14. McCampbell ditch is cleared of brush and debris
15. Goodnight Basin is repaired and is able to accept more stormwater
16. The City forcemain crossing the bay/canal has been rerouted to underground to prevent future line water/sewer breaks.
17. Two miles of road rejuvenation have been completed.
18. Paved the following streets: South Saunders, East Highland, East Danforth, North Arch, East Lott, South 12th and 13th [and many more to come through an established annual maintenance and improvement plan]
19. Little League Park improvements underway to include a brand-new concession stand with all funding in place. [Those who know me best, know I have a special place in my heart for the youth in our community and that is why I spear-headed this project.]
20. A large number of street lights have been repaired with more scheduled
21. Estalished an annual routine inspection through the PD of all the street lights
22. Completed more than 200 demolitions of run-down and damaged buildings [and more to come, hopefully even as soon as this next week]
23. Municipal water loss has been reduced from approximately 50% before Harvey to less than 10% [National acceptable standard is 10%]
24. Obtained a new street sweeper
25. City has developed the first ever drainage plan
26. City has developed the first ever comprehensive plan
27. Newberry Park improvements
28. Significant repairs and improvements to the aquatic center, library, civic center, city hall, police department, and fire department
29. Obtained a fortified and electrically independent modernized Emergency Operations Center.
30. And much, much more.

In all, my best guesstimation is that post-Hurricane Harvey, we have sought, received, and utilized more than $35M towards community wide improvements, with much more to come and our best days remain ahead.

Next, to speak about the crime rate in Aransas Pass....frankly, it is no secret and no surprise that over the last ten years, huge progress has been made in public safety. Ask any resident who has lived here as long as I have and they will demonstrate that improvement. We have gone, in our police department, from holding one of the worst reputations for policing in San Patricio County, to being the progressive leader in the entire Coastal Bend. Additionally, a survey performed by our city manager after coming to Aransas Pass further proves that point. Not to mention, how wide and vast the reach our police department's training division holds across Texas and even outside of our state.

Now, some will tell you we are 103% more dangerous than the rest of the country. Is this even an accurate statement? Additionally, Chief Blanchard and his staff have been very proactive and being proactive will seek out and find more crime. Catching more crime means documenting more stats. In fact, statistically speaking, some stats will tell you Chicago is safer than Aransas Pass, but it is no secret just how many people lose their life each week there. The attached images from the FBI of the violent crime and property crime in Aransas Pass from 2000-2021 will show a consistent decline in crime. Just as I independently researched and followed up with our police chief about this, here is the information I received. I encourage any of you to do the same when seeking factual information; and to do so before sharing uninformed but "conclusive" findings.

Here, I found this link for you, bud. 😉 https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=fbi+ucr+crime+data

In closing, Aransas Pass, it is more important than ever for you to get out and vote during this election. My colleagues Carrie Scruggs, Joe Dominguez, and I are committed to serving you and the entire community as a whole today for an even better tomorrow.

In response to Jason Followel’s post pertaining to my niece:

While I don’t condone what she did one bit, you Jason should be ashamed of your own actions! You’ve set an example for so many that when you screw up, it’s another’s fault not your own. You’ve pushed your unrealistic, self-serving agenda to a toxic level in defense of your own legal mistakes. So much so it’s triggered the mental health break down of some in our community including my niece. But even after today, she’s owned her mistake and turned herself into police. She’s admitted her wrong. When will you admit and correct yours.

Shame on you, Jason, because it wasn’t long ago you admitted to being suicidal until a special someone came into your life and pulled you off the ledge. Yet, now you remain insistent on attacking others and pushing them off theirs. The only difference is my niece has had to live with it her entire life and you relentlessly continue attacking her and her father. God forbid your bullying leads to that end result your actions seem to desire.

Please keep your battles with me. Stop pulling my family into it. You want to become mayor, come at me. Do it the right way, even though you started off the wrong way by falsifying your residence. But that’s ok. I won’t fight it in court. I’ll let the voters speak at the polls.

I plan to stand on my principles. The same principles which have pushed our community to make great improvements over the years I’ve been in office. So much progress has been made and so much more will continue under my leadership on the council and from the great leadership of our hard working city staff. This community will not back down to a bully. Good luck on your campaign.
