As a wedding DJ, I can usually tell within 10 minutes if a wedding is going to be a crazy party!
And honestly, it usually has very little to do with the music at first.
You can feel it in the energy of the room almost immediately.
How excited the guests are.
How engaged the bride & groom are.
How people interact during cocktail hour.
How loud the room feels during dinner.
How quickly guests respond to introductions and big moments.
All of those little things matter WAY more than people realize.
Some weddings just naturally feel alive from the beginning.
People are laughing louder.
Guests are already interacting with each other.
The couple is fully present and excited.
The crowd feels ready for something fun to happen.
And those weddings usually turn into absolute chaos once dancing starts.

But sometimes you can also feel when a wedding is struggling early.
Guests feel disconnected.
The room feels low-energy.
People are spread all over the venue.
There’s awkward downtime between events.
The couple feels stressed instead of excited.
And as a DJ, you instantly know it’s going to take WAY more work to build momentum later in the night.
That’s why great wedding parties are usually about way more than just the DJ.
The best weddings have strong energy long before the first dance floor song ever plays.
By the time open dancing starts, the foundation for the party has already been built.
