Intern Spotlight:
Amelia has been loving her internship at Keith Krepline and Associates in Brillion. She has learned valuable hands-on experience by working on floor plan layouts, attending client meetings, creating specifications, and assisting with finish selections at local providers. Throughout her internship, Amelia has been able to fully immerse herself in the residential design process and gain a better understanding of everything that goes into designing a home. From planning layouts to helping clients make important design decisions, she has strengthened her communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills while gaining confidence in her future career as an interior designer.

Our Interior Design Study Tour recently took us to Sergenian's Floor Coverings in Madison, and it was such an educational and inspiring experience.
Students had the opportunity to explore their beautiful showroom, see a wide range of materials and design solutions, and learn directly from one of their designers, Carman. Her insight helped connect what students are learning in the classroom to the real-world work of interior design.

It is always powerful for students to hear from someone who once stood where they are now and has built a meaningful career in the industry.

Intern Spotlight:
Haley is currently interning at Macco's Floor Covering, where she takes on a variety of responsibilities that support both the staff and customers. One of her main roles is greeting customers as they enter the store, helping create a welcoming and professional environment. She assists customers in finding flooring samples that match their needs and style preferences, while also helping them understand pricing for varied materials and options. Through this, she is building effective communication skills and gaining a deeper understanding of products within the flooring and design industry.

In addition to customer interaction, Haley helps maintain the organization and appearance of the showroom by putting away samples and reorganizing displays to keep everything neat and visually appealing. She also answers phone calls, assists with general inquiries, and directs information to the appropriate team members. Haley is always willing to help wherever needed, whether that includes setting up sale decorations, moving displays, or assisting with daily tasks. This internship is providing her with valuable hands-on experience while strengthening her teamwork, organizational, and customer service skills.

Intern Spotlight:
Ava Hendrickson is currently interning at D&M Flooring America, where she is gaining hands-on experience in the design and showroom environment. She is developing her understanding of materials, product selection, and how to guide clients toward choices that fit their lifestyle, budget, and overall vision.
Through her internship, Ava is strengthening her communication skills, expanding her product knowledge, and learning how thoughtful design decisions come together to create cohesive spaces. She is excited to continue growing within the industry and contributing to the team.

Intern Spotlight:
Anna has been loving her internship at design a la mode in Suamico. At her internship she has been able to see the designing process firsthand. She has been able to help other designers make selections and put together presentations for their clients. She has also been able to pick up projects from contracted professionals and make deliveries for furniture and other various projects. At the showroom, she helps put out new inventory, stage new pieces to take pictures for social media, and make floral arrangements that get sold in the store. She has also learned many different furniture lines that are carried in the store and the process of creating custom pieces for the showroom.

We had a wonderful time connecting and networking with industry professionals at a recent NKBA event sponsored by Broken Arrow Cabinetry & Design, Kitchen Cabinet Distributors, and Old World Stone.
Events like this are such a great reminder of how valuable it is to come together, share ideas, and continue learning from one another.

Intern Spotlight:
Wylee is enjoying her internship at Midwest Design Homes, a custom home builder located in Kaukauna. She hosts open houses at the company’s spec homes and works alongside the new home consultants to meet with clients and assist in designing new homes from start to finish. Her favorite part of the role is joining consultants and clients in the selection meetings, where they visit various showrooms to choose the materials and finishes that will bring each home to life.
