**Career Update: From Baker to Pastry Chef**
What an incredible journey my career has taken over the past year! Strap in, because 2024 has been a thrilling rollercoaster ride. On January 2nd, I returned to Lawrence University, ready to immerse myself in the vibrant atmosphere after a year spent exploring the world of pastries in a charming coffee shop. While I cherished the experience, it soon became clear that the cozy setting wasn’t where my heart truly belonged—more like a delightful flavor that didn’t quite linger!
When the opportunity to come back to Lawrence presented itself, I jumped at it with the enthusiasm of a child in a candy store. I dedicated myself to my work, not only to keep things running smoothly but also to push my creative limits and embrace a leadership role. I was filled with excitement, dreaming of all the delicious possibilities ahead—until a significant challenge arose.
Out of the blue, Bon Appétit lost its contract, and I found myself facing the unsettling prospect of unemployment. Panic set in as I considered the beloved bakery I had come to adore. Would it descend into mediocrity, reduced to serving only frozen goods? Not on my watch! I rolled up my sleeves and worked diligently to ensure the bakery retained its charm and quality under the new management.
To my surprise, the new team recognized the bakery's potential and took a leap of faith. They could have easily let it fade into obscurity, but instead, they chose to invest in my vision. Fast forward to today, and here I stand, proudly wearing my name on my jacket as the pastry chef baking for 1,200 students and faculty at a top private school in Wisconsin! This moment feels surreal, like a dream fulfilled, and I experience a rush of excitement every time I walk through those doors.
Life has certainly thrown its fair share of surprises my way, but I wouldn’t trade this exhilarating experience for anything. Here’s to pursuing dreams, embracing challenges, and savoring every sweet moment along the journey!
Remember, never stop fighting for what you believe in; you never know when an opportunity will arise to grab hold of your dreams.
