So, first time I got pulled into the City of Appleton staff chili contest, and I’m glad I did! WOW, what a great batch of chilies, now I need to go lie down. Good luck chili makers!

Down here in my favorite park, Pierce, taking some time a few sessions of yoga during the Mandala Yoga Festival. Tons of wellness and healthy, wholesome food vendors and free yoga sessions all day long. If you don’t have anything going on today and could use a physical and emotional recharge, make your way over here.

Appleton Public Launch Survey 01/24/2025

Just a little over a week left to participate in the public survey that will shape the direction of the City’s future as outlined in the updated Comprehensive Plan.

For me, one critical missing component of a vibrant Downtown is the lack of any public or private dog parks. I’m pushing for the concept of a multi-faceted redesign of the Pierce Park ravine, including multi-track bike trails and a number of pet exercise areas. If you like this idea, please take the survey before Feb 1, and let the City know along with any other ideas you have to improve your quality of life.

Did you know that it takes roughly 3-1/2 liters of non-replenishable water to produce a single plastic bottle? In the case of these small 355mL bottles of water, most of which were not entirely consumed, each required over ten times the amount of water to produce then they actually held!

If you live in Appleton, you know how good our water is… right out of the tap. And even if you think it needs more or prefer additional filtration it’s pretty easy and inexpensive these days to install an under-counter system.

So please, the night time you’re about to grab a pack of bottled water, consider using reusable water bottles instead (preferably stainless) and fill them up with some of the finest tap water around.
