Emily Tseffos for Wisconsin
Candidate for State Senate, district 19. 🇺🇸
Mom • Teacher • Neighbor • NE Wisconsin
Lower costs. Supported kids. Safer communities.
June 19th is a good day to celebrate the resilience of Black Americans and remember that rights promised and rights delivered are not always the same thing.
Freedom requires vigilance, strength, truth-telling, and a willingness to learn from every chapter of this nation’s history.
Our liberation is bound in each other’s.
This sh*t ain’t easy.

Like many moms I don’t have full time childcare, the kids have very full calendars, and I’m trying to do it all — and feeling like I’m doing none of it very well. (Anyone else relate to this? 😭)
Long story short is it’s summer and I’m in full time mom mode, which means some of the goals we’ve set for the campaign aren’t quite where we want them to be.
The most urgent request I have right now is a financial one (I am so sorry!), but to have a snowball’s chance in hell, we need to pull out all the stops and I need your help.
Can you spare $5, $10, $100 to support what we’ve been building in SD19 so we can reach even more of our neighbors? Can you donate and share this post and ask your friends to do the same?
I’ve already had so much love and support from this community - none of that is lost on me. Thank you all so much for every single thing you’ve done to help so far - I promise I’ll do my best to make you proud! (Now on to making dinner and afternoon activities 😅)

Wisconsin has a long, impressive progressive history - did you know that?
And the people who built those movements weren't superheroes.
They were teachers, students, farmers, union members, parents, and neighbors.
All of them were ordinary people who decided that if nobody was coming to save us, they'd step up and do something about it.
That's why I'm SO excited to launch the Hometown Leaders Project! It's a six-week summer organizing program for young people who want to learn how change actually happens and how to build it themselves.
We'll talk about policy, campaigns, organizing, voter contact, and more! You'll probably teach me a thing or two as well.
But more importantly, we'll talk about power: who has it, who doesn't, and what it takes to build it in our communities.
ICYMI, the future of Wisconsin isn't going to be written by political consultants in Washington.
It's gonna be written by the people who live here, love it here, and are willing to do the work.
If you're tired of waiting for someone else to fix things, this is for you.

**It’s still weird to do this stuff.**
I’m Emily Tseffos, and I’m running for Wisconsin State Senate in District 19.
I’m a mom of three. A teacher. An organizer. The chair of the Outagamie County Democratic Party. And someone who never expected to run for office (seriously).
I got involved because I saw problems that weren’t being solved and I saw our country headed in a direction I didn't recognize. People were struggling, and scared. Schools being asked to do more with less. Families struggling to access healthcare and childcare. Communities feeling ignored by the people who are supposed to represent them.
I’m not a career politician.
I’m just someone who believes government should work for ordinary people.
I’ve spent years helping neighbors navigate government programs (while learning myself!), organizing in our community, advocating for my own children, and showing up even when it would have been easier not to.
Now I’m asking for the opportunity to do that work in Madison.
If you’re new here, welcome. Whether we agree on everything or not, I’m glad you’re here (although I'm gonna say name-calling and hateful comments will be deleted because we can be better than that).
Listen, I believe Wisconsin works best when we invest in our people, support working families, strengthen our public schools, and remember that our government belongs to and should serve all of us. Not only the wealthy and well-connected.
If you've been here a while, thanks for sticking around. We need volunteers like, NOW, so head to www.EmilyForWI.com to sign up.
We've got work to do. ❤️

Kohen Wiley. 🕊️
We already all agree on this, dude.
What frustrates me is that this is manipulative.
It’s easy to tell people to buy healthier food when you’re not standing in the grocery store doing mental math.
It’s easy to talk about children’s health when you’re not choosing between groceries, childcare, rent, and the electric bill.
I’ll never understand people like this who are cutting programs that help people buy groceries or keep the lights on and then turn around and talk about family values and children’s health like we don’t all want the exact same thing.

The older I get, the less interested I am in judging people and the more interested I am in understanding how they got there.
Life has a way of humbling all of us.
At some point, every one of us will need help. The question is whether we’re building communities that show up when that day arrives.
I’m running because I care about you people and I want to help folks breathe a little easier if I can.
That’s pretty much it. 🤷🏻♀️
