Getting Things Done in Appleton District 1
In 2021, I ran for alderperson of District 1. Now, I'd like for this page to be a hub for informatio
I wrote to Alderperson Siebers concerned that the AAPI resolution was referred back to committee, and he responded that his primary concern was that, as-written, the resolution would have produced a divided vote, but he has faith that the Common Council will pass the resolution with a few changes to strengthen it. He said he referred the resolution back to committee because as it stood it lacked action by the council, and he wants "a resolution that commits us to action, not just words."

I've been meaning to "flip" this page now that my campaign is over; I still want it to be an information hub for the district. Unfortunately, last night's Common Council meeting gave me a good reason to do so.
Yesterday, a common sense resolution to condemn xenophobia, racism, and violence against the Asian Pacific Islander Desiamerican community was sent back to committee instead of being voted on. I will be advocating that this resolution is acted upon and watching the committee and council meetings more carefully after this.
Make sure to share how you feel with your alderperson and consider attending the Safety and Licensing Committee Meeting and the next council meeting.
Williams Siebers won re-election for alderperson of District 1, but I earned 43.9% of your votes!
I called Alderperson Siebers and congratulated him on the results, telling him that I'm looking forward to working with him on making District 1 a place in Appleton that works for everyone, and he replied with, "Let's do it!"
I'd be lying if I said that I was thrilled with the results, but earning 43.9% of the votes against a multi-term incumbent is a strong showing! I'll continue to let the common council and the city know how I feel about the issues, and I'm going to switch my campaign website over to a space where people can learn more about the people, businesses, and policies that shape our district.
Thank you so much for your support; I'm really proud of the work we've done for this campaign!

I wanted to post these over the weekend, but it was a whirlwind with the holidays, sign deliveries, volunteer coordination, sign waving, and we even had some musicians volunteer to play live music for us at City Park! And then I was endorsed by the Gorilla at Balloon Magic, which is only two blocks away from my house!
Wherever you live in Appleton, I hope you get out to the polls tomorrow to make your voice heard!

Before every election, I check my voter registration. Once, in between elections, I had been kicked out of the system and had to register at the polls. The My Vote Wisconsin website is a valuable resource if you have any questions about voting information.

I was out and about this weekend with my campaign manager and one of our volunteers in the cold and snow (walking uphill both ways in Arbutus!) getting the word out about my campaign. Fortunately, this weekend is supposed to be much nicer!
We're in the home stretch, and I just have to say that I wouldn't be where I am now if I didn't have so many awesome volunteers. Especially my neighbor and campaign manager Brianne, who keeps everything organized and running smoothly.
We've still got some opportunities to get involved if you've got time.
1. Lit drop: We're delivering campaign literature to district homes using pandemic best practices of no knocking (unless you know someone really well and know they won't mind), masking up, and keeping a safe distance from people you do talk to. If you're looking for an excuse to take a walk out in the gorgeous spring weather, this is for you!
2. Sign waving: Bring a friend or two and show up to Arbutus or City Park with a sign in hand (DiY encouraged). Make sure to spread out if you're bringing friends, and let people know that voting is on Tuesday, April 6 and that you support Wendy. We do have a few signs available on a first come, first served basis.
3. Communications Campaign: Please let your friends and neighbors know to vote on April 6 and why you support Wendy for District 1! Whether you get in touch through an outdoor visit or a text, call, or email, your voice is the best way to get information out about election day!
Important voting information: '
Appleton has in person absentee voting on March 29-April 1 from 8-4:30 on the 6th floor of City hall and from 8-12 on April 2nd.

I feel blessed that we have a Planned Parenthood clinic in our district, only a few minutes walk from my house, to provide vital medical care to those who need it. I feel double blessed that Planned Parenthood Advocates of WI has endorsed me in my common council race.
I'm also being endorsed by Fox Valley Area Labor Council, AFL-CIO, Sunrise Appleton, and the Wisconsin Conservation Voters.
I stand with the Asian American and Pacific Islander community and will always work to make Appleton a more equitable and safe community.
If you're a member of the AAPI community or any community of color and feel unsafe in Appleton, you can contact me at [email protected] or contact the folks at Diverse and Resilient; their Appleton office is in our district on Wisconsin Ave., near Harriman.
