Lately, I've had several new inquiries ask me if I edit my own photos or outsource them or if I use AI.
I've also been seeing more videos and discussions from people saying they received photos where they barely recognized themselves. Features were changed, skin was overly smoothed, their body shape was altered, etc. While editing has always been part of photography, there's a big difference between enhancing a photo and having AI fundamentally change a person's appearance.
My work will always reflect real moments and real people. That's why I'll never use AI to create or replace my images. I still only use Adobe Lightroom to edit every single image and I always will.
I am deeply concerned about the impact AI is having, especially here in Wisconsin. Massive AI data centers require enormous amounts of electricity and water, groundwater depletion, air pollution and so much more. It is placing additional strain on our local infrastructure and natural resources.
We are seeing this all over our beautiful state. Port Washington, Beaver Dam, Wrightstown, Shawano and the list goes on and on.
AI is trained using creative work made by photographers, artists, writers, and musicians without meaningful consent or compensation.
No AI. Never.

Surrounded by the peaceful beauty of nature, with cascading water flowing over the rocks and the sounds of the falls filling the air, it was such an incredible place to witness two people promise forever.
