Over the first week of June, we had the incredible privilege of welcoming back our long-time partners from Gonzaga College High School for another unforgettable immersion experience! 🏔️➡️🌴
These students truly stepped into our community, continuing a beautiful tradition of partnership that we cherish deeply. They stayed with local host families, shared meals, and built deep, lasting connections. They also rolled up their sleeves and worked directly on local farm sites to experience a glimpse of the grueling daily reality of agricultural labor. 🌾🚜
More than just a trip, this week was about empathy, education, and solidarity. The students listened closely to the powerful stories and systemic challenges faced by our immigrant community, while also diving deep into understanding the complex legal and social processes involved.
Thank you, Gonzaga College High School, for your years of dedication, open hearts, and open minds. And a huge thank you to our amazing host families for opening their doors! Together, we are breaking barriers and building a more compassionate world. ✊🏽💙

Yesterday, we gathered in community to honor the 14th anniversary of DACA. Together, we reflected on the profound impact of this program, while recognizing that it was always meant to be a temporary fix. Fourteen years later, the fight for lasting, humane immigration reform continues.
DACA exists because of the courage of immigrants and advocates who marched, organized, and fought for justice. Our message remains clear: our home is here, and our voices matter.
This powerful event was hosted in partnership with Poder Latinx, and we are incredibly grateful for their collaboration. We also extend a special thank you to U.S. Representative Maxwell Frost, State Representative Johanna Lopez, and State Representative Anna Eskamani for lending their vital support to this movement.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in building a future rooted in dignity, opportunity, and hope!

Ayer nos reunimos en comunidad para conmemorar el 14.º aniversario de DACA. Juntos reflexionamos sobre el profundo impacto de este programa, reconociendo al mismo tiempo que siempre se concibió como una solución temporal. Catorce años después, la lucha por una reforma migratoria duradera y humana continúa.
DACA existe gracias a la valentía de los inmigrantes y defensores que marcharon, se organizaron y lucharon por la justicia. Nuestro mensaje sigue siendo claro: nuestro hogar está aquí y nuestras voces cuentan.

For 14 years, DACA recipients have strengthened our nation through their work, entrepreneurship, and community contributions. They are teachers, healthcare workers, business owners, parents, and community leaders. Yet despite their invaluable contributions, DACA remains a temporary solution, and recipients continue to live with uncertainty as the program faces ongoing legal challenges and remains vulnerable to court decisions and political shifts.

Durante 14 años, los beneficiarios de DACA han fortalecido a nuestra nación mediante su trabajo, su espíritu emprendedor y sus contribuciones a la comunidad. Son maestros, trabajadores de la salud, empresarios, padres y líderes comunitarios. Sin embargo, a pesar de sus inestimables aportaciones, DACA sigue siendo una solución temporal, y los beneficiarios continúan viviendo en la incertidumbre mientras el programa enfrenta constantes desafíos legales y permanece vulnerable a decisiones judiciales y cambios políticos.

Ten years ago, our community was devastated by an act of hate that targeted the intersection of our LGBTQ+ and Latinx communities. Today, we remember the 49 lives cut short, including one of our very own Apopka community members, and we stand in unwavering solidarity with the survivors and families who carry the weight of that night. At Hope CommUnity Center, we continue our fight for justice, inclusion, and the power of love over hate. 🕊️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
