The Chinese Cave Gecko is proof that not every reptile needs to be bright to stand out. π¦
With its bold orange markings, deep black body, and calm, nocturnal nature, this species is a favorite for keepers who appreciate unique reptiles. They prefer cooler temperatures than many geckos and spend much of their time tucked away in humid hides, making every appearance feel special.
Have you ever seen a Chinese Cave Gecko in person?
Sound on for this one. ππ
African egg-eating snakes (Dasypeltis) have a pretty impressive defense strategy. When they feel threatened, they can rapidly rub their keeled scales together to create a raspy, hissing-like sound β all while putting on a convincing defensive display.
And despite the drama? These snakes are nonvenomous and specialize in eating bird eggs, which they swallow whole before specialized projections in their spine help crack the egg inside. π₯π This unique little noisemaker is currently available at Reptile Junction!
