For more on this year and past years visit www.NERVEmber.org #BurningForACure™ 2015 NERVEmber was created to raise awareness of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD), Nerve Pain Diseases, and Diabetes in an effort to increase access to care, patient and caregiver education, proper treatment option availability, and support from the public
and health providers for chronically ill patients with these conditions. Help Paint the World ORANGE™ every November for NERVEmber! NERVEmber© is officially Neuropathy Awareness Month and RSD Awareness Month (November). The word NERVEmber was created by Barby Ingle in 2009. These awareness activities all started as back in 2007 by the International Pain Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charity. As the Neuropathy community and nerve pain awareness movement grew, the awareness activities increased and grew into Nerve Pain Awareness Month or now commonly referred to in the pain community - NERVEmber. During the month, many people throughout the country and the world come together for the Neuropathy Pain community. Events are held. Articles are written. Facebook statuses are updated. Videos are created and spread online. Proclamations are issued. It is important to remember, that these are all important things that can happen throughout the entire year, not just in November. Here are some ways you can help: ~ Attend or host an event in your area: Find a Nerve Pain event in your area or get the tools you need to host one! ~ Contact Congress: Your elected leaders need to hear from you about your condition and how it affects you on a daily basis. Ask them to support the access to proper and timely care legislation being presented in their state. ~ Faces of Pain: Submit a picture of you or your loved one for this online gallery that shows the true face of the disease. ~ Secure a Proclamation: Your Governor can officially declare November, Nerve Pain Awareness Month in your state. It is a very simple process that can bring added attention to what patients with these conditions face on a daily basis. Share it with others to pass on hope and inspiration. ~ Shine a Light on a specific Nerve Pain Conditions (there are over 150 conditions): The largest coordinated awareness events for Nerve Pain takes place every November.
