Steel Krazy was the birthplace of Reclaimed Angels. Reclaimed Angels started as a growing concept focused on repurposing and reclaiming materials that would otherwise be sent for recycling. The Reclaimed Angels Project emerged from this same idea, but instead of reclaiming materials, we decided to focus on reclaiming lives. We began offering paid apprenticeships where individuals could learn a trade, earn an income, and gain insight into the business side of the industry. The program is designed as a stepping stone for people in recovery from addiction, those exiting jail or homelessness, individuals aging out of the foster care system, and particularly veterans transitioning back into civilian life after military service. It’s all about providing a Hand UP, not a Hand OUT. The Japanese art of Kintsugi perfectly embodies the mission of Reclaimed Angels. When a ceramic piece is broken, instead of discarding it, it’s repaired with gold. This highlights the fractures and, in doing so, makes the piece more valuable than it was before, because of its scars. Our goal is to help people reclaim their lives and fulfill their true potential.
