Contra Costa County Fire Rescue Explorer Post 88

Due to the current COVID-19 health concerns we are not activity recruiting or performing Explorer activities. We are hopeful that we will be able to perform a recruitment in 2021. Please continue to follow our Facebook and Instagram account for the latest updates.

Do to unforeseen recent events we will be postponing our 2020 Explorer Recruitment. As part of the social distancing, shelter in place and reduced exposure procedures we have cancelled all activities that involve our Fire Explorers. In addition we will not be responding to questions or comments regarding the recruitment. Please continue to follow our social media accounts for the latest information.

Last drill of the year in the books for the Contra Costa County Fire Explorers thanks to our amazing Firefighters. Once a month the Fire Explorers meet at a training location and perform different skills. Some of those things include hose operations, ground ladders, search, and equipment familiarization. Once again a huge thanks to our Firefighters that take the time out there weekend to come teach and pass on the knowledge to the next generation! @ Antioch, California

Today Explorer Post 188 benefited from fantastic training put on by Firefighter Bekakis, Ukkestad, and Scarborough. The Explorers had a great time while continuing to learn the amazing job of a Firefighter! We hope to see more of our new Firefighters teach their skills to the future Firefighters.

Sometimes you just got to climb...Contra Costa County Fire Explorers get to do some really cool stuff while attending ride along shifts.

Today we recognized the hardworking Contra Costa County Fire Explorer Lieutenants at our monthly drill. We also promoted our newest Lt. Josh Biggness Our Lieutenants are responsible for many task and are huge part of the programs success. We are very proud of them!

Recent years have brought many changes to the fire service. One thing has stayed the same, we have to crawl into thick smoke and heat and locate and place water on the fire. This is one of the fundamental tasks of a firefighter.
