I have had the wonderful pleasure of meeting so many people over the years who have become mentors, friends and inspirations to me. One of those amazing people is Puja —. An amazing actress and storyteller, you can see her work on 'Geeta's Guide to Moving On' and the 'Lincoln Lawyer' on Netflix. While this is impressive, Puja's warmth, compassion and drive to tell the story of the culture that has shaped her and so many of the people I know is her true spirit.

I am honored to support her poignant and powerful new film project LAKSHMI being developed by my friend and filmmaker.

The story behind LAKSHMI is bold, human, and deeply relevant. It shines a light on themes of resilience, identity, and the pursuit of dignity. THIS is the kind of storytelling that elevates voices we don’t hear often enough.

She is currently raising funds to bring this project to life, and I’m sharing this because I know many of my colleagues' care about meaningful, mission‑driven creative work.

One of the proudest moments of my career.

In the early 2000s, while working at PRINCE GEORGE'S HOSPITAL CENTER now part of University of Maryland Medical System, I had the honor of leading a month-long celebration of African American medical pioneers in Prince George’s County. We called it Heritage of Healing — a tribute to the legacy of care, courage, and community that shaped our region’s healthcare story.

We hosted book signings, health fairs, and community events across the county. And to top it off, Olympic Gold Medalist Dominique Dawes joined us as our host for Black History Month — bringing energy, inspiration, and national spotlight to our mission.

This poster, signed by colleagues and community pioneers, still stands as a symbol of what healthcare can be when it honors history, uplifts voices, and connects deeply with the people it serves.
