What does it mean to find your TRIBE?

For artist and storyteller Chantel Miller that question became deeply personal…. After losing her mother, niece, grandmother, and aunt within thirteen months, Chantel began photographing the people who showed up. The friends, family, and unexpected people who stayed close, reached for her, and helped carry her through grief.

Those photographs became her TRIBE.

Our Gallery Fellow Chantel Miller brings this deeply personal exhibition to AND Gallery for a night of photography, storytelling, music, and community.

This is a story about loss, but it is also about what showed up alongside it: love, friendship, connection, and the people who become home.

This Friday, Film Club is getting a little haunting. 👻

We’re screening A Ghost Story (2017) — a quiet, beautifully strange film about love, loss, memory, and what gets left behind.

Our Folklore & Folktales exhibition is still on the walls, so come early and wander the gallery before settling in for the film. Two very different ways of exploring the stories we carry with us.

We’ll have popcorn and sips, and we’ll hang around afterward to talk about what we just watched. Because half the fun of Film Club is the conversation after.

Inspired by All That She Carried by Tiya Miles, this one is close to the heart. We carry bags for what we need — but also for what we value, remember, protect, and pass forward.

Join award-winning fiber artist Felicia L. Reed for an intimate hands-on workshop, crafting a one-of-a-kind Healing Bag from vintage and repurposed fabric, trims, and embellishments.

Through gentle coaching and storytelling, you’ll sit with a few questions along the way:
What do I carry?
What am I ready to release?
What do I want to carry forward?

No sewing experience needed — just an open hand and an open heart.

You’ll leave with more than a bag: a vessel for memory, intention, healing, and connection to those who carried before us.

We carry bags.

Meet Felicia L. Reed.

Felicia is an international award-winning fiber artist creating Healing Wraps from silk, wool, vintage fibers, repurposed textiles, and found materials using the ancient process of wet felting.

She calls them “wearable folklore.”

Each piece carries stories of memory, ancestry, resilience, and healing—bringing together loose fibers through water, pressure, friction, and time.

As Felicia puts it — “The process of binding loose fibers through water, pressure, friction, and time mirrors our own journeys of healing.”

Meet Jim Mackey

Jim’s primitive wooden totems and masks are influenced by ancient sculpture, spirituality, folk culture, and his own experiences growing up in the Bible Belt of Appalachia.

For Jim, art is also deeply personal.

Join us for a Kim Merced Garland Film Retrospective, featuring four of Kim’s short films—including her Resurrection Trilogy and acclaimed horror short BODY IMAGE.

Kim has gone on to write for SYFY’s CHUCKY and Netflix’s THE IMPERFECTS and was selected for the Black List x Women in Film Episodic Lab and Women in Film Directing Fellowship.

Folklore & Folktales is officially opened this past weekend. Thanks to everyone who came through to see the work, meet the artists, and spend the evening with us.

The exhibition brings together stories, traditions, myths, and memories—some passed down, some personal, and some reimagined through a contemporary lens.

Featuring work by Martin Beadle, Nikki Brooks, Cat Dolch, Deb Furey, Hailey Hagan, Jim Mackey, Jayla McKay, Felicia Reed, and Anike Robinson.
