District Cleanups

A grassroots community cleanup organization that connects volunteers with areas that are in need of a little love. Each time they got together, the group grew.
The Saturday after January 6th, 2021, the area in front of the Capitol Building was full of litter. We put out a call to help cleanup the area on social media, and that call was answered. Around 20 volunteers, all strangers, picked up cigarette butts from the National Mall, fished beer bottles out of the fountain at Union Square, and filled trash bag after trash bag with plastic, paper, and other

📣UPDATED LOCATION AND START TIME!!
We are now meeting at Fort Stevens Park at 🕚 11am on Sat., 6/17.
🤔 Why the shift? We received word from Rock Creek Park that they already have a plan in place to address the potentially dangerous trash on the Whitehaven side of Dumbarton Oaks Park. They also told us there is an immediate need to pick up trash in the area near Fort Stevens.

HELP! 🔥 🪵 💨 🆘
Someone wrote to us about a massive pile of trash in the woods of Rock Creek Park near Georgetown. We said we would send a group of people out ASAP to help pick it up - we would like to get as many people as possible to join because the pile looks enormous (swipe to see photos)! Please join us and be part of our first ever District Cleanups SOS next Monday at 5:30PM at Whitehaven St NW & Wisconsin Ave NW.
