It's hard saying goodbye to beloved teachers and school administrators. So we just say thank you!

Chris Carter, the assistant principal at West Towson Elementary, is moving to Colorado with his wife, a surgeon who is starting a job there. Chris is LITERALLY Going West!

And at Dumbarton Middle School, Baltimore County Councilman Mike Ertel and I paid tribute to four retiring school teachers and staff.

School Nurse Donna Miedusiewski spent 20 years with Baltimore County Public Schools, the last 13 at Dumbarton.

Dumbarton's Toni Sillers has been a social worker for 38 years, the last 20 with BCPS.

Teacher extraordinaire Dan Sievers is retiring after 32 years of service to BCPS. He wasn't able to attend our ceremony because of a personal obligation. But his students and colleagues will miss him for sure!

And one more shoutout to music teacher Howard Miskimon, who we celebrated earlier this month for 55 years at BCPS, 50 of those at Dumbarton — with no plans to retire. We didn’t have a citation for him then, but we did this week!

Thank you, all!

Such a fun time walking in the Baltimore Pride parade!

Great to join our congressman, Rep. Johnny Olszewski, and so many other friends and colleagues for an afternoon filled with unity and positivity.

It's more important than ever that we show up and stand up for the LGBTQ+ community. Many thanks to all who braved the heat today!

Happy 50th birthday to the Maryland Science Center!

It was a pleasure to join their anniversary celebration this morning as they kick off a significant renovation to the plaza in front of the building.

As a member of House Appropriations Committee and the Capital Budget Subcommittee, I'm happy to help direct state funding to projects like this. The Science Center continues to be a major regional draw, and today's groundbreaking promises to keep it vibrant and relevant for the next 50 years!

Cathy Rickels has spent the last 35 years as a teacher at Rodgers Forge Elementary. And she’s been with Baltimore County Public Schools for 42!

Today, the school threw this RFES legend a retirement party. And many of her current and former students and families were there, along with Baltimore County Councilman Mike Ertel and me.

Mrs. Rickels taught both my kids and Mike’s, so we were thrilled to join the celebration and wish her the very best!
