CNC Routers & Laser Cutters are a match made in heaven. Chris used the ShopBot to mill out 1/8" inch on either side of this 1/2" hardwood glue-up. He then used the 80 Watt Epilog Laser to cut out the inside pattern, a custom creation he designs in SOLIDWORKS.
He's cut a number of these before, but always with thinner material. With 80 Watts he's having significantly better results with thicker material (so long as we keep the lenses clean!)
And we just learned The Hardwood Edge now stocks 1/2" thick boards!
