It's been a while since an update, but progress has been pretty steady on the shop- doors are way more complicated than I ever thought, what a wonder they are. Lots of great books coming in, can't wait to see people at Detroit bookfest!

More work, more books, and thanks to for the much needed shelves 🙏

It's been a long winter, but we're getting closer every day

Working hard on the store + other things, learning how to focus and work steadily. I feel like this is further than I ever thought I'd get, but that there's so much more to do than I ever imagined.

"She’s on the horizon…I go two steps, she moves two steps away. I walk ten steps and the horizon runs ten steps ahead. No matter how much I walk, I’ll never reach her. What good is utopia? That’s what: it’s good for walking."

Important questions this morning.

A cool book Ursula Le Guin ranked in her "Unjustly Neglected Works of Science Fiction". Leo and Diane Dillon cover art of course, haha.

Leo and Diane Dillon covers for James Baldwin- been looking for the complete set of these for a looong time!

Hey y'all, I haven't been out by the street hardly at all this season and I've really missed going out there and talking with everyone. This year though I really focused on finding a place to open a more permanent bookstore and just recently found one!

It'll be in Ypsilanti at the former (and very beloved) pea pod. The place needs some work so I've been putting all my efforts into it, and I'm excited to see what kind of space it can become.

It'll probably be a solid chunk of time, so I just wanted to let y'all know that common books hasn't gone anywhere, it's just growing! And this doesn't mean I won't be out with the cart anymore, there'll just also eventually be a home for it 😁

Thanks to everyone that's come out to see me and talked about books and painted and given support and encouragement. I love doing this because of y'all and hope to see you soon!
