We were a WELS congregation serving Angleton, Lake Jackson, Clute, Brazoria and Brazosport areas for almost 50 years. But with this Word it is Baptism.

What We Believe

What We Believe is important to us, and we hope that it is important to you, too. The Bible

We believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God.

2 Peter 1:21 (NIV)
For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 3:15 through 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)

I am happy to see that, although our church had to close, we have recently had 33 new “likes.”

I'm sorry to say, but I am feeling so awful today, that I cannot in good conscience go ahead with tomorrow's Service, March 25. I hate it, but I have been very weak all day. Usually by mid to late morning, and certainly by afternoon, I have been reasonably able to do things. But yesterday was bad and today is again.

Again, I'm sorry, and I hope you can find alternative plans for tomorrow. After all, it is Palm Sunday, a very special day in our worship year.
May God bless you all - and me, too!

Ash Wednesday is February 14.

The Lenten Season in the Church extends from Ash Wednesday through Holy Week (Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday). We count the 40 days of Lent, but not the Sundays. (Sundays IN Lent, not OF Lent). 40 is not some sort of "magic" number, but God does use 40 in significant ways. Lent is significant, a time to remember and review the events of our Savior's suffering and death.

And then comes EASTER! (April 1 this year.) The Triumph over sin, death, and the devil is complete! Once He died for the sins of all. The perfect sacrifice. Nothing left for us to do. His life for ours. His Resurrection promises our resurrection. Lent is over, new life begins!

This year we will begin our Lenten worship with the Sunday service on February 11. We will not have an evening service on Ash Wednesday. We will wait and see how pastor's health is when we get to Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, whether we can have services then.

So, if it's possible, try to be with us for worship on Sunday, February 11 - Lent begins!

How tough is your life? How tough are you? How tough is your (our) God? Of these three questions, which is the most important?

Every time your life gets troubled, you ought to remember the troubles of Job. From the heights of joyful splendor, he was brought to the lowest of the low.

3 friends who came to visit tried, but they only made things worse, going poor comfort. Only God could help him.

When life is hard, stay close to God, He will never leave you comfortless. And the end of Job's life on earth was even more blessed than before, but for him and for us, the best was still to come!

Since the flooding that came after Hurricane Harvey, we have not been able to offer regular Sunday worship services. We will announce the date we are able to resume our normal schedule and it will most likely be in November.

I have not been posting here on the church page, so I thought perhaps I should put something on.

When the church was built in 1970, they needed some fill dirt. They found a man who was digging a pond on his property. He stipulated that they could purchase the dirt, but only if they took all of it. At $1.00 per truckload, the agreement was made.

As a result, Christ Our Savior Lutheran was built on an elevated base, and today from all accounts it has survived the flooding without taking any rising water. The house has undoubtedly been severely impacted. We are in the wait and see. We cannot get into the streets around our home and the church. No, flood insurance cannot be purchased in some areas - like ours!

Pray that God will show us His will and provide a way.

Here are some photos that I have posted before on my own FB page.

We are fortunate that the church was built not only on the good foundation of God's Word, but wisely built on ground that was elevated by 4-5 feet of fill dirt, so that it sits much higher than any other structures in the neighborhood. Whereas the ground level is 14 ft above sea level, the church is about 18 ft above. This makes a big difference in flood potential. As a result, the hurricane has not threatened our building with flooding.

Although we didn't welcome Harvey, we will happily welcome visitors any given Sunday morning - 10:15 is the Worship time.

May the Lord keep you safe in times of earthly storms, and be assured He is with us in all the storms of life!

Some may not know, but at the end of July (July 24, actually) Pastor Semro had knee replacement surgery. He had a rough time for a couple of weeks, but is finally beginning to feel better now. As a result, we had to cancel Sunday services for two weeks (July 30 & August 6). We pray that God will graciously continue to give strength and healing, and are really hoping to be ready for Sunday, August 13.
