"Digestive symptoms are common, but they shouldn't be ignored or silently endured," says Dr. Meryann Corzo, UTMB Health primary care provider.

Many digestive concerns are a routine part of primary care visits, and many can be diagnosed and managed without needing immediate specialty care. Starting with a primary care physician ensures concerns are addressed early, with access to a broader network of specialists if needed. In many cases, that proactive approach leads to faster answers, more effective treatment and greater peace of mind.
