🚨 Remedy Auto Update 🚨
We wanted to let everyone know that I have been admitted to the hospital since Friday and am still currently receiving treatment. Alisa and I have been at the hospital throughout this time, and while I am hoping to be released sometime Tuesday, that is ultimately up to the doctors.
The shop is OPEN and operating, but with both of us away, our team can only handle so much without us there. We ask for your patience and understanding as we work through this unexpected situation.
If you experience delays in communication, scheduling, estimates, or repairs, please know that it’s not being ignored. Our crew is doing their best to keep things moving while we focus on getting me healthy and back to the shop.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and greatly appreciate your support, prayers, and understanding during this time.
Thank you for being part of the Remedy Auto family. We look forward to getting back to normal operations as soon as possible.
I must say! I have seen this happen at pretty much every shop I have ever been at!
There is always that one guy!!!

Parts world has taken a major HIT
CARDONE was acquired by First Brands Group in 2023. After First Brands entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy in September 2025, the company began evaluating whether to sell its businesses as a whole or in pieces.
By January 2026, First Brands officially announced it was winding down its North American CARDONE operations along with Brake Parts Inc. and Autolite because it could not secure sufficient financing while in bankruptcy. The company stated it would continue seeking buyers and pathways to transfer operations to new ownership.
A few key developments:
* First Brands officially announced the wind-down of CARDONE’s North American operations on January 26, 2026.
* Multiple CARDONE facilities in Texas were slated for closure, including Arlington and Harlingen-area operations, resulting in layoffs.
* Bankruptcy court filings show CARDONE Industries as one of the debtors in the First Brands Chapter 11 case.
* Reuters reported that First Brands was preparing to sell business units individually after failing to find a buyer for the entire company. CARDONE, Brake Parts, and Autolite had already been shut down as part of that process.
What this means for the automotive aftermarket
For shops like your Remedy Auto business, the biggest concern is availability of remanufactured hard parts:
* Steering gears
* Steering columns
* Rack-and-pinion assemblies
* Power steering pumps
* Window motors
* ABS modules
* ECMs and electronic components
* Brake calipers and boosters
CARDONE has historically been one of the largest remanufacturers in North America. If portions of the company are liquidated or sold off separately, some product lines could disappear, while others may be purchased and continued under new ownership.
My read on the situation
This does not look like a simple reorganization where everything continues as normal. The evidence points toward:
1. Bankruptcy.
2. Shutdown of major CARDONE operations.
3. Sale of assets and brands in pieces.
4. Uncertainty about which product lines survive.
If you’re asking because you’re seeing availability issues at NAPA, O’Reilly, Autozone etc… or other suppliers, that would make sense. Many reman product lines are already becoming harder to source, especially for older vehicles.
Parts world has taken a major HIT
🚨 Automotive Industry Update: CARDONE’s Future in Question 🚨
Many technicians, shop owners, parts stores, and distributors have been hearing rumors about CARDONE. Unfortunately, those rumors appear to have some truth behind them.
CARDONE’s parent company, First Brands Group, entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in 2025. Since then, reports indicate that major CARDONE North American operations have been wound down, facilities have been closed, and the company has been pursuing the sale of assets and business units.
For those outside the industry, CARDONE has been one of the largest remanufacturers of automotive parts in North America. Their products have supplied repair shops and parts stores for decades, including:
🔧 Brake Calipers
🔧 Steering Gears
🔧 Rack & Pinion Assemblies
🔧 Power Steering Pumps
🔧 Window Motors
🔧 Electronic Modules
🔧 ABS Components
What does this mean?
➡️ Some remanufactured parts may become harder to find.
➡️ Certain product lines could be sold and continue under new ownership.
➡️ Other product lines may disappear altogether.
➡️ The aftermarket parts industry could see shortages in some categories, especially for older vehicles.
This situation continues to develop, but it serves as a reminder of how much the automotive repair industry relies on a handful of major suppliers behind the scenes.
Have you noticed availability issues with CARDONE products lately? Are your suppliers already seeing changes?
I’d be interested to hear what other shop owners, technicians, and parts professionals are experiencing in their areas.
Starting to see more and more parts with the part name and number etched off in other packaging!

Daddy said there would be days like this!!
Cruise control is one of the most underused tools in modern vehicles… and most people barely touch it anymore.
Driving schools hardly even teach people how or when to use it now. Meanwhile, folks are riding the gas pedal for hours, speeding up, slowing down, burning extra fuel, and turning highways into rolling accordions. 😅
Used correctly, cruise control can:
• Help improve fuel mileage
• Reduce driver fatigue on long trips
• Keep a steadier speed
• Help avoid accidental speeding
• Make highway driving smoother for everyone around you
Technology in vehicles wasn’t added just for fancy buttons and dashboard lights. Some of it actually makes driving easier, safer, and less stressful when people learn how to use it properly.
Crazy part? A lot of people own vehicles packed with features they’ve never even tried. 🚘
