"Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving.
What you have caught on film is captured forever... It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything." - Aaron Siskind

A lot of the photos I took are in this
In response to the July 4th flood, the staff of The Kerrville Daily Times took on a mission that went far beyond reporting the news. We became witnesses—tasked not just with documenting what happened, but with preserving what it meant. Over the past several months, our team has worked tirelessly to create a publication that captures this pivotal moment in our history with accuracy, compassion, and heart.
The result is Guadalupe Rising: The Kerr County July 4th Flood—a 156-page commemorative magazine that stands as a tribute to all we lost, all we endured, and all we’ve begun to rebuild.

Day 3 in Kerr County helping with The Kerrville Daily Times in telling the story of the July 4th flooding that occurred. A man from Florida, Leo Soto, created a memorial to the flood victims on Water Street in Kerrville. I made my way to some local areas who were collecting donations to help those who needed it. I then was able to to go to Center Point and document search and cleanup operations in the area and to a local camp for disabled children called Camp Camp.

On day 2 of my visit to Kerr County to help The Kerrville Daily Times tell the story of the July 4th flooding. I was able to make it into the town of Hunt and on to Camp Mystic. There are no words to describe the devastation or the hard work and effort first responders and volunteers are doing to help the community and those affected.

This past week I had the honor of helping The Kerville Daily Times in Kerr County and telling the story of the people and what happened through photos. Words cannot describe and photos can only give a small glimpse as to what happened and what people are still going through. These photos and what I experienced doesn’t even scratch the surface of what happened and what is continuing to happen. These are the photos from my first day in Kerrville.
