At the board meeting this evening, the compensation plan for the 2026-2027 school year that includes a 3% raise for eligible employees, a $750 retention bonus, and a $300 Christmas bonus was approved. I am happy that we were able to continue investing in the employees who work hard every day to serve our students and community.
At the end of the meeting, I asked about the possibility of having mental health days for employees. The administration will be looking into the topic and bringing information back to the board for future discussion.

This week I attended the TASB Summer Leadership Institute for School Board Members in San Antonio. During the conference, I attended sessions on several important topics, including School Safety and Security, Strengthening Board Understanding of Special Programs, Section 504, Special Education and Dyslexia Services, Program Reviews and Accountability Systems, Facility Planning and Preparing for Growth, and Advocating for and Strengthening Public Education.
I took the opportunity to ask questions, learn from experts across the state, and gain a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing public schools. Hearing how other districts are addressing these issues provided valuable insight that can help us make informed decisions here at home. While every district faces challenges, it was encouraging to see that many things Angleton ISD has in place compare to districts across the state. I feel the more knowledge we gain, the better equipped we are to ask the right questions to make decisions that are positive for our district. I remain committed to continuing my growth as a board member so I can better serve Angleton ISD. Learning never stops, and neither does my commitment to serving with integrity, transparency, accountability, and leadership.

Last night’s board meeting was a little emotional for me. Tommy Gaines officially stepped down as he did not seek re-election. Thank you for your years of service and dedication to Angleton ISD. I know serving a community is not always easy, and anyone willing to give their time in service deserves appreciation and respect. So I want to say thank you, Mr. Gaines, for your commitment to our district and students over the years.
Then I was also officially sworn in for my 3rd term on the Angleton ISD School Board, and I’m truly honored and grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this community. I do not take this responsibility lightly. As I move forward, I will continue doing what I have always done and that is listening, speaking up when needed, asking questions, and leading with integrity. I will continue to advocate for our students and staff, and work to ensure decisions are made with the best interests of our district in mind.
This role is bigger than one person. It’s about service, trust, and being willing to do the work even when the conversations are difficult. I remain committed to being present, approachable, and focused on helping move Angleton ISD forward. Thank you again to everyone who continues to support and trust me in this role. The work continues, and I’m ready for what’s ahead.
First and foremost, I want to thank God for guiding me through this journey and for every blessing along the way. I also want to thank my family for standing by me, especially my wife for supporting me, and encouraging me every step of the way. I couldn’t have done this without you.
To our community, thank you for coming out and entrusting me with your vote. Your confidence in me is something I do not take lightly or for granted, and I am truly grateful. I also want to give a special thank you to the people who keep our district running every single day, our custodians, teachers, transportation staff, food service teams, maintenance crews, admin, and security. Thank you for taking the time to come out and vote and for everything you do behind the scenes to support our students and schools.
This victory is not just mine, it belongs to all of us who believe in the future of our students and the strength of our community. I will continue doing what I have always done. And that is serving with integrity, leadership, service to all, transparency, and accountability. I will continue to keep listening to you. I will continue to keep asking the tough questions. And I will continue to keep working hard to make decisions that are in the best interest of our students, staff, and families.
The work doesn’t stop here, it continues. Thank you again for your trust, your support, and your belief in me.

It has been a long, full, and honestly fun day. I’m truly blown away by the support I received today, the kind words, the encouragement, the people who showed up, and those who reached out. It means more than I can put into words.
