The BOLD study

In 2005, the BOLD (Burden of Obstructive Lung Disease) study was designed to quantify the prevalence of obstructive lung diseases and to identify risk factors across several regions throughout the world. The study chose the EasyOne spirometer to ensure accurate and reliable testing in various climates, altitudes, and air qualities. BOLD continues to produce numerous publications that aid in the study of COPD. To date, tests have been performed on 42 sites for more than 30,000 people.

Coaching & encouragement during

When coaching a patient, emphasize the first second blast. The first blow should be hard, and fast.

Encourage the patient to keep blowing out as long as possible. Stay positive! This helps the chances of completing an acceptable test.
