Partners in Child Development was honored to be represented at the Massachusetts State House for a special celebration recognizing 50 years of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and its profound impact on children, families, and communities across the Commonwealth.
Hosted by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the Massachusetts Early Intervention Consortium (MEIC), the event brought together families, providers, educators, advocates, legislators, and public servants to reflect on the progress made possible through IDEA and to recommit to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
IDEA’s expansion to include Part C helped establish statewide Early Intervention services for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities, supporting children and families during some of the most critical years of development.
We are proud to be part of this important work and grateful to Cheryl Bruk, who serves on the MEIC Board as the Region 3 Representative, along with Sandy Levine, Leslie Siciliano, and Karen Purtschert for representing Partners in Child Development at this meaningful celebration.

I Spy - Can You Spot the Learning?
"I Spy” is more than just a fun game; it’s a simple way to support your child’s development through everyday play. This classic game helps build vocabulary, attention, listening, and observation skills. As children play, they practice describing what they see, focusing on details, and using language to communicate their ideas.
You can play “I Spy” just about anywhere—at home, in the car, at the store, or outside on a family walk. Start simple by giving color clues like, “I spy something red,” and gradually add more description.

Communication begins long before a child says their first words.
Cooing, babbling, gestures, facial expressions, songs, and simple signs all help infants and toddlers connect with the world around them. For young children with hearing loss, Early Intervention can help families learn strategies that support communication during this important stage of development.
Our latest blog shares more about hearing loss in young children and how Partners in Child Development’s Early Intervention Services can help.
